Surprise Engagement inside Le Chateau in La Crosse, WI
Le Chateau is a restaurant located in La Crosse, Wisconsin. La Crosse is a city in the western part of the state, known for its scenic location along the Mississippi River. Le Chateau is known for their French classics & imported wine and is presented in a historical house with warm, upscale dining rooms.
La Cave
If you do ever visit this amazing restaurant, be sure to visit the basement bar before or after your dinner. The bar is called La Cave and is one of my favorites in the area.
Venue: Le Chateau
An overview of the house and of Mons Anderson
“The Mons Anderson House is one of the finest examples of mid-nineteenth century residential architecture in western Wisconsin. The house is a rare blend of Gothic Revival and Italian Villa styles rendered in locally quarried stone. The house has a fascinating history from a peak of late Victorian era opulence in the late 19th century – to neglect and near ruin by the later part of the 20th century – to its current state, of complete restoration and recognition as one of the most historically and architecturally significant houses in the city of La Crosse.”

Tobi & Tyler
Tyler and Tobi have dated for a few years and are high school sweethearts. Tyler is currently serving in the U.S. Army while Tobi is in her second year of college. They may be young but they sure are mature for their age. They have had many conversations about marriage since their high school days.
While he was away he asked his mom to help him get all the details set back home for their special evening. She went to work and helped to make it all a very memorable night.
Tyler had been gone for a year and finally came home for a month long leave. A couple of days after getting home, he took Tobi’s parents out to dinner to ask for their daughter’s hand in marriage. Her parents were thrilled! A couple days later he took Tobi out to a very nice dinner and asked her to go check out the basement decor with him after dinner. It was down there, in the wine room, that he got down on one knee to “pop” the question. I was there incognito to snap away as she said YES! It was so beautiful!
After they were officially engaged we had the opportunity to walk all through the amazing historic building and do some engagement photos as Tyler had to head back to his station a couple of weeks later.
Their engagement was so special and intimate! I can’t wait to see what all their future hold and hope I have the honor of photographing more special engagements like theirs.
