Client Guide
First of all, thank you so much for finding your way here. Whether you have been recommended by a friend, found me on social media or searched your way through seemingly hundreds of photographers to find your way here, I am grateful for the chance to connect with you.
Finding a photographer you resonate with is a journey worth taking and I am so glad you found something in my work that sparked a little light within you. Taking photos is my passion and I would love to showcase you and your loved ones in a way that sparks that same joy within you when you receive the final images that will freeze the moments you look to preserve.
This guide is here to help you get to know me a little more and get to know what the experience of working with me is like. In viewing this guide, I hope you find that spark shine a little brighter as you read about how incredible your experience will be. If that spark tends to dim as you continue, I know there is a better photographer out there who will be be better suited to let your spark burn bright! I want to be sure that we have the same vision for your session so you are left with both beautiful memories and timeless images that you will cherish forever.
Location.
My style as a photographer is more on the candid side, less posed and more natural, but don’t worry, I will be sure to get a few of those traditional posed photos too! For most of the session, I want to capture the relaxed, playful moments. Those are the timeless images that speak to my heart. In fact, you don’t even need to look at the camera unless I ask you to! I want you to pretend I am not even there. Don’t be afraid to move around, talk, tickle, laugh and just be real with your people!
Styling
Deciding on a wardrobe for your session can be overwhelming. I am here to help! I am happy to send you some Pinterest boards I have put together to guide you as you prepare for your session.
For in home sessions, I want you to think of comfortable and typical, like you are hanging out at home. Bare feet, comfortable clothing and just being you.
For outdoor sessions, work to coordinate your family’s outfits by color palette and avoid being too matchy.
Tips:
Stick with light neutral colors – avoid florescent or really bright colors. Look for complimentary tones with pops of color, patterns and textures.
Layer your clothing and jewelery to add depth and texture – think hats, vests, scarves, belts, suspenders, etc
Be comfortable– steer clear of heels or clothing that is too tight or uncomfortable. You want to be able to move around and feel good while being true to yourself.
Flowy dresses work beautifully for women and girls – they show motion and move with you.
Plain v-neck t-shirts are always great for boys and men – polos and collared shirts look nice but can often leave them looking a bit stiff.
NO logos or words – stay timeless by avoiding words and logos that will date the images.
